Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0861420/IV (b)/1> and their acid addition salts with mineral or organic acids (wherein R is a trimethylene radical 2-substituted by a methyl radical, Y is a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a methoxy radical and Y1 is a hydroxyalkyl, acetyloxyalkyl, hydroxyalkoxyalkyl, acetyloxyalkoxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl radical, the alkyl and alkoxy radicals each containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms), and the preparation thereof by : (1) reacting 1 - bromo - 2 - methyl - 3 - chlorpropane with an alkali metal derivative of a 2-Y-phenthiazine and reacting the 1-chloro-2-methyl-3-(2-Y-10-phenthiazinyl)-propane formed with an N-Y1-piperazine; (2) when Y1 is a hydroxyalkoxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl radical, reacting thionyl chloride with a 1-(o -hydroxyalkyl)-4-[2 - methyl - 3 - (2 - Y - 10 - phenthiazinyl) - propyl]-piperazine and treating the 1-(o -chloroalkyl) - 4 - [2 - methyl - 3 - (2 - Y - 10 - phenthiazinyl)-propyl]-piperazine formed with an appropriate sodium alcoholate; and (3) when Y is an acetyloxyalkyl or acetyloxyalkoxyalkyl radical, acetylating the corresponding hydroxy compound with acetic anhydride. 1 - (2 - Hexyloxyethyl) - and 1 - (5 - ethoxypentyl)-piperazine are made by respectively reaching anhydrous piperazine with 1-bromo-2-hexyloxyethane and 1-bromo-5-ethoxypentane.
