Abstract
922,949. Sectional boilers. IDEAL-STANDARD Ltd. Aug. 9, 1960 [Sept. 10, 1959], No. 27603/60. Class 123 (2). The adjacent sides of the elements of a vertical sectional boiler are provided, above a combustion chamber 1, with curved baffles which coincide to form, between each pair of sections, a spiral gas passage 2a, 2b, leading to a central exhaust duct 3. The rising combustion gases increase in speed in the convergent part 2a of each spiral and then pass from the part 2b of the passage to be directed substantially tangentially into and revolve spiralwise about the longitudinal axis of the exhaust duct 3. As shown in Fig. 3, a sectional boiler has double spiral gas passages leading to double exhausts.
