Abstract
578,686. Gas turbines. SMITH, D.M., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO.., Ltd. July 24, 1944, No. 14150. [Class 110 (iii)] A regenerative gas turbine plant has two heat exchangers, one located in the exhaust from the gas turbine and the other between the discharge of the compressor and the inlet to the combustion chamber, said heat exchangers forming part of a common heat transfer circuit transferring heat from the exhaust gases to the combustion air. The heat exchangers 11, 12 are connected by pipes 13 and the circuit formed is filled with a fluid of high heat absorbing capacity which is circulated by a pump 14. In a modification the circulating fluid is air tapped from the main compressor. A plurality of heat exchangers in series or in parallel may be employed.
