Abstract
<PICT:0736978/III/1> <PICT:0736978/III/2> In steam turbine plant comprising a plurality of single-flow turbines, or one or more multiflow turbines, each exhaust stage of expansion is associated with an individual condenser or with an individual unit of a sub-divided single condenser, and the individual condensers or units are connected in series for the passage of the coolant. The thermal efficiency of the system is thereby increased with respect to those systems wherein each condenser or unit has its own independent supply of coolant. In Fig. 4, each turbine 6 is supplied with live steam through an inlet 7. The turbines exhaust the steam through conduits 81, 811 into condensers 91, 911 respectively, which are connected in series, by duct 11, and are supplied with cooling water by pump 12. In Fig. 5, a double-flow turbine 6 is supplied with live steam through a single inlet 7, but exhausts into two condensers 91, 911 connected in series for the flow of cooling water.
