Abstract
922,929. A.C. generators. D.B.A. May 29, 1961 [June 3, 1960], No. 19312/61. Class 35. In a method of manufacturing a series-wave winding for an alternator armature, the leadin and lead-out wires 3a, 3b, Fig. 2, of the winding elements are inserted into slots 16, 17 formed in an insulating bracket 11, each pair being subsequently simultaneously permanently connected together, e.g. by a dip-soldering process. The wires may be connected by inserting them into holes in moulded or printed lugs 12, the lugs also having further holes 13 into selected ones of which leads 18, 19, 20 are inserted for connecting to slip rings. Alternatively, Fig. 5, the two wires to be joined may be inserted in a common slot, soldered directly to each other, and subsequently covered by a thermo-setting varnish. The alternator may comprise a rotary diode unit or be of the stationary armature type. In the latter case, the connection leads are taken to fixed lead-out wires.
