Abstract

922,431. Clocks and watches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Nov. 23, 1960], No. 40323/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 139. In a timepiece in which the oscillator is electromagnetically maintained, the maintaining circuit includes a semi-conductor device having a region of negative incremental resistance for a given range of applied voltage e.g. a tunnel diode. The oscillator e.g. the balance carries a permanent magnet which co-operates with a stationary electromagnet in series with the tunnel diode which is biased by the resistance of the electromagnet coil or by a separate resistor.
