Abstract
920,217. Raising sunken objects. A. LOGHRER. Sept. 15, 1959, No. 31390/59. Class 68 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] Apparatus for raising an object submerged in water comprises an inflatable buoyancy body having a gas inlet to which a filling pipe may be coupled, and a valve in the inlet comprising a non-return valve normally preventing leakage of gas from the body when the pipe is disconnected, and a valve for reducing the pressure of the gas in the body in response to the adjacent water pressure as the object is raised. The valve is connected at one end to the body 8 and has the other end 11 adapted to be connected to a compressed air filling pipe. The non- return valve is carried by an annular member 13 and comprises a disc 15 urged by a spring 16 in the direction of the arrow B. The reducing valve comprises the member 13 biased by a spring 14 in the direction of the arrow A and controlling holes 19. An inlet and valve may be common to several bodies.
