Abstract

792,579. Bilge water draining devices. LEWERY, L. D. Nov. 30, 1956 [Nov. 3, 1955], No. 31487 /55. Class 113. A retractable suction device for removing bilge water comprises a body 10, attached to a hull by a flange 12, fitted with a hollow plunger 11 carrying arms 45, 46 guided in slots 32, 33 so that the plunger may be retracted and locked, to engage the seating 39 with the seat 38. The plunger has an opening 17 which faces aft so that the bilge water is drawn through ports 19, non-return valves 28, openings 30, 31 in the body, and openings 48, 49, into the hollow plunger. The valve chamber 20 is enclosed by a flexible casing and the plunger is sealed by rings 40, 42 engaging the body 10. Alternatively the body . may have a resilient sleeve through which the plunger passes.
