Abstract

371,306. Bailing devices for boats. SOBOLEW, W., V³puri, Suomi, Finland. Jan. 20, 1932, No. 1780. [Class 113 (i).] A self-bailing device for boats comprises a tube 11 with an opening 18 directed aft, the tube being splined to the bearing 7 attached to the bottom of the boat. When the tube 11 is screwed or pushed into its operative position, and the boat is in motion, the water-flow past the opening 18 extracts the bilgewater through aligned openings 17, 15 in the tube and bearing. When the boat is at rest, the non-return valve 19 prevents access of the water of flotation to the bilges. The tube 11 is raised by the handle 25 and may be secured by a nut 22 with the valve 23 bearing against a valve seat on the bottom of the boat. Specification 4210/82, [Class 113, Ships &c., Div. I], is referred to.
