Abstract
919,694. Removing dust &c. from carding engines. HOWORTH & SON Ltd., D. Sept. 21, 1959 [Sept. 20, 1958], No. 30130/58. Class 120 (3). A carding engine of the kind in which suction means B for the removal of dust and fibre particles are applied at three locations on the machine where the escape to atmosphere of the dust &c. mostly occurs has each suction means B comprised of a member B<SP>1</SP> extending across the machine and carrying a number of pipes b<SP>2</SP> open at the end and connected to a common header, the pipes b<SP>2</SP> being successively shorter in length so that an even suction is applied across the machine. The number of pipes employed at the three locations may differ and baffle plates may be arranged at each location to direct the dust &c. to the pipes. According to the Provisional Specification these baffle plates may be hinged.
