919,307. Measuring electrically. SZERSZAMGEPFEJLESZTO IMTEZET. Dec. 7, 1960, No. 42143/60 Class 40 (1). A feeler gauge for measuring the diameter of a workpiece 3 (Fig. 1) on a centre grinding machine comprises a V-shaped head 1 with a centrally protruding feeler 2 attached to the movable core 4 of a balanced transformer, connected in a bridge circuit. The bridge output, indicative of the diameter of the workpiece, is shown on a meter, and also fed to relays set to stop the machine at the desired diameter, and to change the machining operation, e.g. from coarse to fine, at predetermined diameters. The feeler head is clamped to the machine by a double arm link 8, 9 and biased against the workpiece by a spring 5.
