Abstract

918,443. Rectifying. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. March 17, 1961 [March 22, 1960], No. 9869/61. Class 38 (2). In rectifying equipment wherein for each phase rectifying elementsare connected in parallel branches, transformers are provided, to equalize the currents in the branches, each transformer having a first winding in the branch to carry the branch current and a second winding carrying the total current of all the branches. The number of turns of the first windings is n times the number of turns of the second windings, where n is the number of branches and the windings are in opposition so that under normal conditions there is no resultant flux in the transformer. In the event of unbalance the transformers operate to restore the current equality of the branches. A transformer may be provided with an additional winding responsive to excess current to operate an indication device, a Zener diode being disposed across this additional winding.
