Abstract
Hexamethylene tetramine is produced by contacting gaseous formaldehyde with gaseous ammonia under a rain of aqueous solution of hexamethylene tetramine. The process is preferably carried out at superatmospheric pressure and at a temperature lower than the boiling point of the solution. The preferred pressure for carrying out the process is 100-1000 kg/m2 and the preferred temperature 60-70 DEG C. The gaseous formaldehyde and/or ammonia may be mixed with an inert gas and the process may be carried out continuously.
