Abstract
Hexamethylenetetramine is produced by continuously introducing gaseous formaldehyde and anhydrous gaseous or liquid ammonia into a reaction zone containing a saturated aqueous solution of hexamethylenetetramine, continuously drawing off a saturated solution of hexamethylenetetramine containing crystals, separating and recovering the crystals from the mother liquor, diluting the mother liquor with water to form an unsaturated solution of hexamethylenetetramine, and feeding the solution back to the reaction zone after passing the gaseous effluent from the reaction zone therethrough, the reaction zone being operated at a temperature in the range of 62-66 DEG C. and under a pressure equal or close to atmospheric.
