Abstract
918,273. Supply systems for space discharge lamps. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Sept. 15, 1959 [Sept. 29, 1958], No. 31472/59. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a circuit for starting and operating a fluorescent tube in which a rectifier 4 is arranged in series with a choke 7 to unidirectionally magnetize the choke and increase the heater current during the starting period, the rectifying properties of the rectifier are arranged to be substantially reduced when a starting current of prolonged duration flows through the choke. The rectifier 4 may be shunted by a non-temperature dependent resistor 10. The rectifier may be mounted on a carrier such that the heat loss from the rectifier is allowed to raise the temperature of the carrier only to a predetermined extent in order to lower the blocking resistance of the rectifier.
