Abstract
950,157. Thermo - conductive devices. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. June 14, 1962 [June 16, 1961], No. 22839/62. Heading H1K. [Also in Division G4] A supply circuit for flashing vehicle indicator lamps 10, 11 comprises a resistor 12, the resistance of which changes suddenly at a particular temperature Ts. A resistor having a positive temperature coefficient is used in Fig. 1 so that initially current will flow to lamp 10, but when the temperature of the resistor 12 rises to Ts, its resistance will suddenly become very high, and only a low current insufficient to light lamp 10 will flow. Due to the low current, resistor 12 will cool until at temperature Ts it will switch to its low value again and the cycle restarts. A resistor with a negative temperature coefficient may be used. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the resistor may be heated additionally by a heat ing winding connected in the circuit. Resistor construction.-The positive temperature coefficient resistor is of barium titanate, and its transition temperature Ts varied by doping with a rare earth, e.g. cerium lanthanium. The negative temperature coefficient resistor is of silver sulphide and may be doped with sulphur.
