Abstract

918,090. Testing fibres. ACH FIBER SERVICE Inc. May 8, 1961 [May 9, 1960], No. 16646/61. Class 120 (3). An apparatus for sampling wool comprises a compression chamber 4 having a door 6 for introducing the wool. Reciprocating lengthwise of the chamber is a ram 9 having a piston sliding in a cylinder 11 guided by rods 12. The opposite end of the chamber is provided with a plurality of apertures 16 through which coring tools 17 may be moved back and forth to extract samples of the compressed material. The tools 17 are actuated by means of a piston reciprocating in the cylinder 18. The tools are fast to a head 22 mounted on the end of the piston rod 23. Ejector rods 26 held fast to a stationary head 24 pass through the coring tools on their backward movement to eject the samples into a bag 3. The pistons may be operated with compressed air or hydraulic fluid.
