967, 285. Turning inside out PLASTIFLEX PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 2, 1963 [Aug. 15, 1962], No. 31238/62. Heading D1X. In a machine for turning each finger and thumb of a glove as a separate operation by the insertion of a plunger into a tube after the finger or thumb has been placed over the latter, the plunger is moved relative to the tube by pneumatic or hydraulic means. As shown, a tube 3, formed by hollowing out a rod 4, is secured to a post 2 rising from a bed 1. A plunger 6, formed with a head 7, is secured to a rod 9 carrying the piston 10 of a pneumatic cylinder 11 supported by a frame 12 mounted on base 1. A plate 8, secured to rod 9, is connected to a plate 16 by rods 15 slidable in apertures 14 in frame 12. A screw-threaded rod 19, fixed to frame 12, passes through an aperture 20 in plate 16 and carries stop nuts 17 and 18 disposed on opposite sides of the latter. Compressed air admitted through a port 21 moves plunger 6 towards tube 3, the movement being terminated by the engagement of nut 18 with plate 16. Plunger 6 is also retracted by admitting compressed air through port 22, the position of nut 17 then determining the end of the movement. It is stated that hydraulic pressure could alternatively be used, and that the return stroke of the plunger could be effected by spring pressure.
