Abstract

605,150. Injection moulding machines. HILL, W., and DUNN, A. Dec. 17, 1945, No. 34041. [Class 87(ii)] The ram e by which the movable mould part h' is forced against the stationary mould part b is itself the cylinder of a further ram h' by which material is forced from the injection cylinder i. The ram e carries rods g' secured to crosshead h which carries mould part h'. To close the mould pressure liquid is admitted through the port c', thus moving crosshead h along rods d to the position shown. At the same time liquid is admitted through pipes p<2> and moves the crosshead k, which carries the injection cylinder i. When the mould parts b, h', abut, crosshead k continues to move, compressing springs m and bringing the nozzle j against the mould. Pressure liquid then passes through passage e<4> and operates the injection ram h<2>. At the end of the injection stroke the pressure is released and the springs m force back the nozzle j from the mould, while the rams e and h<2> are forced back by liquid admitted through a duct f<3>. Moulding material enters the injection cylinder through the orifice i'.
