Abstract

917,901. Thermometers. SIEMENS ELECTROGERATE A.G. April 5, 1960 [April 6, 1959], No. 12091/60. Class 97 (3). In a flat iron having a temperature regulator and a temperature indicator the latter is in the form of an illuminated spot which traverses a scale. As shown, the regulator 4, Fig. 1, automatically adjusts the temperature of the base 1 of the iron to a value selected by a lever 10 movable around the periphery of a scale 8. The bimetallic strip 5 of the regulator 4 is slotted at its free end to engage, and thus rotate, a twisted strip 6 connected to a disc 7, apertured at 9, and associated with an electric bulb 11. The resultant spot of light is viewed through the transparent or translucent scale 8. In a modification, Fig. 3, the setting lever 10<SP>1</SP> is displaceably mounted in a slot 12, in the handle 3, parallel to a slot containing a slider 13 having an aperture 9<SP>1</SP>, the slider 13 being moved by deflections of the bimetallic strip 5 acting through a lever system 14. In a modification the indicator has a separate scale from that of the regulator.
