Abstract

Dials and scales.- In an indicating thermometer a source of light moving with the index is associated with a translucent coloured screen in such a manner that changes of temperature result in relative movement between the source of light and the screen. The thermometer comprises a bulb 1 connected to a bourdon tube 4 which actuates a pointer 5 moving over a scale 6. A lamp 7 is mounted on the pointer and two segments 10, 11 with differently-coloured translucent portions 12, 13 are independently and frictionally pivoted coaxially with the pointer, knobs 14, 15 being provided for adjusting the segments. The segments are adjusted so as to leave a space between them corresponding to the permissible variation of temperature which it is desired to maintain. When this temperature is exceeded or not attained the light becomes obscured by one or other of the coloured segments 12, 13. The segments may be replaced by a complete disc having spaced apertures covered with translucent material.
