[Also in Groups XIX and XXXVIII] In a maximum demand indicator, an electrically operated mechanism for advancing the indication by a predetermined amount is energized by contacts which are operated whenever the indicator is coincident with a member controlled by the measuring instrument. As shown, the member 1 attached to a spindle 3 controlled by the measuring instrument, which may be thermal, closes contacts 5a on the indicator 5 which, with the gear 9, is loose on the spindle 3. The solenoid 14 is thus energized and advances the indicator by one step of the pawl and ratchet mechanism 12, 6. A spring 17 may be provided to re-set the indicator 5 but this is normally prevented by a second pawl 15.
