Abstract

A domestic iron of conventional design and appearance which incorporates within its base, (i.e. ironing surface), a digital display which is flush with the ironing surface of the iron, such display showing the temperature of the ironing surface, in addition to which the temperature display is colour coded changing colour, for example, from green to orange to red, depending upon the upward intensity of the heat, and the display continues after the appliance has been disconnected/switched off from the power supply.

Description

TEMPERATURE DISPLAYING IRON GENERAL DESCRIPTION This invention relates to a Temperature Displaying Iron which is a conventional iron for the ironing of clothes and fabrics, but which incorporates a digital temperature display within the heated steel surface of the operative part of the iron.
MORE PARTICULARLY The invention comprises the incorporation of a temperature measuring device within the base of the iron which allows the temperature of the base of the iron to be digitally displayed in degrees centigrade or degrees fahrenheit, and in addition the display is colour coded such that the higher temperatures are displayed in red numerals, the middle temperatures in orange numerals and the lowest range displayed in green numerals. The digital display is incorporated within a ceramic cover, such that the ironing surface of the iron is not detrimentally affected.

Claims (1)

  1. An iron that will alert the user as to the temperature of the base from a safety point of view, which will continue to display the temperature of the base even after disconnection from the mains electricity supply, and an iron that will alert the user as to the temperature of the base to avoid damaging fabrics being ironed, thus the Temperature Displaying Iron is a safer and a more efficient implement.
