Abstract

916,353. Discharging static electricity. UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION. Aug. 19, 1960 [Oct. 1, 1959], No. 28827/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. [Also in Groups XXVI and XL (a)] In an ion rocket engine (see Group XXVI) in which propellant is forced through heated porous electrodes where it is ionized by contact and is then accelerated as positive ion beams (see Group XL (a)) the ion beams, and hence the rocket casing, are neutralized by electrons injected from directly or indirectly heated cathodes or from secondary-electron emissive electrodes.
