A manually operated dispensing apparatus comprises a pump piston 6 connected by a rod 5 to a pivot 8 on a grip 7 which is pivotally connected at 10 to a link 9 pivoted at 11 on an extension 12 of a finger grip 1, the distance between the pivots 8, 10, being substantially equal to the sum of the distance of the pivot 11 from the rod 5 and the length of the link 9. The pump 3 is the same as that described in Specification 836,319. The lever 7 may be returned either by a coil spring 13 or by a hair-pin spring anchored on the pivot 11.
