Abstract
915,607. Travelling-wave tubes. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. March 8, 1961 [March 29, 1960], No. 8425/61. Class 39 (1). In an M-type travelling-wave tube additional polepieces 13 are provided within the enclosure, secured to the lateral side walls, so that the strength of the magnetic field is relatively weak at least in the region of the collector 9 in order to aid the collection of the beam without necessitating variation of the electric field. The magnetic field may also be relatively weak in the region of the cathode 8. Additional polepieces may also be attached to the external main polepieces and alternatively, or in addition, an external field weakening shunt may be provided over the region including the cathode 8 and collector 9. The tube may be linear instead of circular.
