Abstract
915,308. Clamp fastenings. KLUG, K. March 17, 1959 [March 17, 1958], No. 32750/61. Divided out of 915,307. Addition to 885,228. Class 44. In a hose clamp of the type comprising a strip 1 of flexible material formed intermediate its ends with an aperture 9 and wound to form two loops one of which is contained within the other with an intermediate part 19 of the strip of reduced width threaded through the aperture to permit the formation of the two loops and an abutment 2 engaging the inner loop at the part of its periphery opposite the transistion point where the two loops are connected to one another and a screw-threaded member 3 engaging a housing 26 carried by the outer loop and arranged to act through the abutment substantially radially of the inner loop so that by axial adjustment of the screwthreaded member the size of the inner and outer loops can be varied in opposite manners the strip being formed with a lengthwise extending slot 10 narrower than the said aperture and arrangedbypermittingseparate flexing of the two parts of the strip on opposite sides of the slot to improve the ability of the strip to twist without buckling, the slot 10 extends along the part of the inner loop engaged by the abutment and the abutment is secured to the inner loop by two securing means which are coupled respectively to the two parts of the strip which lie on the opposite sides of that slot. As shown, the abutment 2 is secured to the strip by means of rivets which engage through holes 22, 23 in the strip. The housing 26 is of the form disclosed in Specification 915,307, and the ends of the strip may also be provided with interengaging teeth and holes as disclosed in Specification 885,227.
