576,975. Hose clamps. NATIONAL LOCK CO. Feb. 14, 1944, No. 2708. Convention date, May 31, 1943. [Class 44] A hose clamp comprises a saddle 13 spotwelded to the band 10, the sides 14 of the saddle having projections 15 that pass through openings in the casing 16 and are then riveted ; the saddle 13 is curved to fit the hose. The ends of the casing 16 are slotted and carry the reduced end 27 and the recess 23 in the worm 22 that engages slots 11 in the band 10. The band is slotted at 10a so that the worm can project through the slots 11 and increase the area of the engagement of the worm and the band. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the sides 14<1> of the saddle are cut away and form an abutment for the turned up portion 201 of the casing to take the thrust on tightening. The head of the worm is fitted with a rotatable sleeve 34 to form a guide for the screw-driver.
