885,227. Barrel clips. KLUG, K. March 27, 1958 [March 28, 1957], No. 9815/58. Class 44. A hose clamp of the type comprising a strip of flexible material 1 formed intermediate its ends with an aperture 9 and wound so as to form two loops one of which is contained within the other with an intermediate part 19 of the strip of reduced width threaded through the aperture to permit the formation of the two loops has a housing 4 provided with retaining means by which the ends of the strip are held securely in place against movement relative to the housing and a screw threaded member 3 engaging the housing and arranged to act through an abutment 2 substantially radially of the inner loop so that by axial adjustment of the screw threaded member the sizes of the inner and outer loops can be varied in opposite manners. As shown the retaining means are apertures 7 which are engaged by serrations 8 at the ends of the strip. The screw threaded member 3 passes through holes 6a in the housing and 6 in the ends of the strip the holes being screw threaded. The abutment 2 is secured to the middle of the strip by means of the end of the screw threaded member which after passing through the holes in the abutment and strip is spread laterally by centre punching it. The strip is provided with longitudinal tension compensating slots 10 as described in Specification 885,228.
