Abstract
885,228. Barrel dins. KLUG. K. March 27, 1958 [March 28, 1957]. No. 28503/61. Divided out of 885,227. Class 44. In a hose clamp of the type comprising a strip of flexible material formed intermediate its ends with an aperture 9 and wound to form two loops one of which is contained within the other with an intermediate part 19 of the strip of reduced width threaded through the aperture to permit the formation of the two loops, an abutment 2 engaging the inner loop at the part of its periphery opposite the transition point where the two loops are connetted to one another and a screw threaded member 3 engaging a housing 4 carried by the outer loop and arranged to act through the abutment substantially radially of the inner loop so that by axial adjustment of the screw threaded member the size of the inner and outer loops can be varied in opposite manners, the strip is formed with a lengthwise extending slot 10 narrower than the aperture 9 and arranged by permitting separate flexing of the two parts of the strip on opposite sides of the slot to improve the ability of the strip to twist without buckling. As shown four slots 10 are provided. The ends of the strip are connected to the housing by serrations 8 engaging slots 7 in the housing as disclosed in Specification 885,227.
