Abstract

914,728. Powder distributers. CHAFER Ltd., J. W. May 4, 1959 [May 20, 1958], No. 16173/58. Class 6(1). Apparatus for spraying powdered material comprises a hopper 10 provided with a screw conveyer 16 which feeds powder to an agitating chamber 20 provided with rotary agitators 35. The agitators 35 are fixed in a shaft 31 and the conveyer 16 is rotatable on the shaft 31 and is intermittently driven from the shaft by means of a cam 41 which operates a pawl and ratchet wheel 37. The powder is drawn through a duct 24 by means of a rotary blower 42, the agitating chamber 20 communicating with the duct 24 by means of openings 26, 28. From the duct the powder passes to spray booms 62 through a delivery chamber 22, the booms being provided with flexible connections 60 hinged brackets 61 and wire ropes 66 connected to slugs 67 in the hopper. The blower 42 and shaft 31 are driven from a tractor power shaft and the apparatus is connected by links 68, 69 to the tractor.
