Abstract
914,539. Heat-exchangers. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 22, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 6464/61. Class 64 (3). A heat-exchanger core 14 which includes stiffening side members 26, is positioned with respect to a header tank 12 by providing on the tank, an integral re-entrant flange 44 which slidably engages an end of the member 26 to permit relative movement between the tank and the core. The core shown comprises rows of tubes of elongated cross-section between which are soldered or brazed, secondary surface, corrugated, sheet-metal elements 18. Similar elements 19 may extend between side members 26 and the adjacent tubes.
