Abstract

783,925. Tubular heat exchangers. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd. July 10, 1956 [Aug. 16, 1955], No. 23556/55. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger comprising an assembly of parallel tubes a extending between end plates (not shown) and through a plurality of fin plates b, a pair of reinforcing plates c each corresponding in width and length to the fin plate assembly are positioned one on each side thereof and are secured to the edges of some or all of the fin plates. In the form shown the reinforcing plates c are provided with protuberances d which are received in notches e provided in some of the fin plates (see Fig. 3). Other fin plates are not notched and the edge portions of these plates are received and may be brazed or soldered in slots f (Fig. 1) provided in the protuberances d. Alternatively or in addition, each reinforcing plate may be flanged at g for engagement with and attachment to all the fin plates.
