Abstract

914,049. Sliver condensing funnels. RIETER & CIE A.G., JOH. JACOB. Dec. 10, 1959 [Dec. 19, 1958], No. 42037/59 Class 120 (1). A funnel for condensing slivers and guiding them to the nip of rollers in a machine preparatory to spinning includes an intermediate cavity portion in which entrapped air may escape from the sliver before the latter is finally condensed. In one form, an initial funnel portion 5 opens into a cavity 9 connected by a conduit 11 to a low-pressure zone. An air inlet channel, not shown, also communicates with the cavity 9 which is closed at the bottom by a small-bored insert 14 shaped to fit close to the nip of a pair of rollers. In an alternative form, the funnel assembly is mounted on a generally rectangular box shaped to rest on a pair of rollers, the box being connected to a low-pressure zone and the cavity 9 opening to the interior of the box.
