914,035. Photographic image-transfer processes. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. Aug. 3, 1960 [Aug. 6, 1959], No. 26910/60. Class 98 (2). An imagewise exposed water-soluble silver salt print-out emulsion layer is contacted under pressure in the presence of water with an imagereceiving layer containing a reducing agent with or without reduction nuclei, whereby the silver salt in the unexposed portions of the emulsion is transferred to the receiving layer and therein converted into a positive silver image. In Example I a print-out emulsion, for which a mixing is quoted, is mixed with a silver chloride emulsion, saponin and potassium chrome alum and the mixture is coated on film and the coating is exposed for 7 minutes at 200 foot-candles through a letter, rolled through a bath in contact with a baryta subbed paper which had been treated with ascorbic acid and stripped therefrom to leave a positive lightblack image of the letters on an off-white background on the paper receiving layer. Thirteen succeeding examples follow the procedure of Example I with use of different image receiving layers, which latter include coatings with organic sulphur-containing materials, manganous acetate, silica, titanium and zinc oxides, zinc sulphide, colloidal silver and other substances ; and then Example XV, the last, presents further print-out emulsion mixings for the purpose.
