913,773. Curtain walling. FREEMAN, MORRISON Ltd. Nov. 4, 1959 [Nov. 5, 1958], No. 35582/58. Class 20 (4). In curtain walling, the hollow T-section mullions 1 are in two parts 4, 5 with co-operating flanges 6, 7 at their meeting edges, and the part 5 has an undercut groove 9 to receive the heads of firing bolts for securing the mullion to the building framework. Each transom 11 is hollow and has internal threaded channels 14 for receiving screws or bolts fixing it to the mullion. Upper and lower flanges 12 are provided at one edge of the transom and, together with shoulders 16 on the mullion, form seatings for panels P. The other face of each panel is supported by an L-section metal strip 19 engaged in grooves 20, 21 on the transom and mullion. The transom and mullion are made of an aluminium alloy &c. In erecting the curtain walling, a transom is attached to each part of the mullion and the panels are fixed in position before the two parts of the mullion are assembled.
