Abstract

896,420. Curtain walls; glazing. ROWLEY. & PARTNERS (ENGINEERS) Ltd., A. June 23, 1960 [March 23, 1959], No. 10058/59. Classes 20( 3) and 20(4) A curtain wall comprises mullions divided to form front and rear longitudinal sections 6, 7 having a space 5 therebetween through or into which space the transom members 14 may extend, and holding means for securing the transom members in determined positions relative to the mullion sections. The holding means comprises spigot members 3 to which the sections 6 and 7 are secured by screws 13. Glazing beads A and B are secured by screws engaging the mullions or spigots and glazing beads C are secured by screwing to the transoms. In a modification the spigot 3C, Fig. 10, may be formed with a plurality of recesses 4 each capable of receiving a self-tapping screw, in order to facilitate securing the beads in different positions corresponding to various thicknesses of glazing or infil sections. At the upper and lower ends the mullion sections 7 are screwed or bolted to head and sill spigots, Figs. 4 and 7 (not shown) which are bolted to the building structure with head- and sill sections.
