Abstract

912,663. Automatic voltage-control systems. HARMER, H. M. May 27, 1960 [March 3, 1959], No. 7376/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). In a voltage-regulating arrangement the emitter to base voltage of a transistor is determined by the difference between a direct reference voltage and the direct voltage across a load. The collector current of the transistor flowing through a control winding of a transductor, connected between an alternating- current source and a bridge rectifier supplying the load, varies the impedance of the transductor so as to maintain the load voltage constant. As applied to the arrangements disclosed in Specifications 637,663 and 797,204, the collector current is derived from a bridge rectifier connected through a transformer to the alternating-current source. A rectifier in series with the emitter of the transistor prevents damage to the transistor by current fed from the load. The reference voltage can be derived from across a Zener diode connected in series with a baretter or by the arrangements as disclosed in Specification 637,663, 797,204 or 912,662.
