Abstract
813,582. Automatic voltage control systems. SORENSEN & CO. Inc. April 20, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 12097/56. Class 38 (4). The D.C. voltage applied to a load 25 from an A.C. supply 12, 13, is stabilized by a fullwave rectifying self-saturating transductor 18, 20, 21, 22 which supplies the load. The transductor is controlled by a main winding 44, 45 connected across a bridge 37 sensitive to the D.C. output voltage; by a winding 30, 31 connected via a bridge rectifier 32 to the A.C. input; and by a current compounding winding 34, 35 connected across the smoothing choke 26. The voltage-sensitive bridge 37 includes a Zener diode 42 as one arm which breaks down at a given voltage to unbalance the bridge. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two conventionally connected rectifiers in opposite arms of the bridge function as non-linear resistors.
