Abstract
873,052. Automatic voltage control systems; rectifying. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 7, 1957], No. 35372/58. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). In a circuit for supplying a load from a rectifier with a D.C. voltage having a ripple, the ripple voltage is applied to an amplifier which controls a magnetic amplifier in series with the rectifier. A load 8 is fed through a resistor 7 from a rectifier 6, the output of which is compared through a rectifier 9 to a stabilized bias voltage developed across a resistor 10. When the ripple voltage from the rectifier exceeds the steady voltage across resistor 10 a valve 15 conducts, the output of which is rectified, and applied to another valve 24 which increases the impedance of a magnetic amplifier 5 to reduce the rectifier output. A bleeder resistor 29 may be connected across the rectifier 6 to provide a base load, or alternatively the magnetic amplifier may be connected in series with the supply transformer primary winding provided that the rectifier supplying the stabilized voltage is connected across a pair of terminals 31.
