Abstract

1422482 Automatic voltage control RHONE-POULENC SA 29 March 1974 [30 March 1973] 14071/74 Heading G3R A D.C. supply is connected through a voltage regulator and a signal receiving device to data transmitter terminals. A voltage sensing terminal on the regulator is connected to a point between the receiving device and one of the transmitter terminals. As shown in Fig. 2, a data transmitter 9, and receiving and user devices 6,7,8 are supplied in series from an A.C. source 1 over a transformer 2, rectifier 3, voltage regulator 4 and current limiter 5. The supply voltage is sensed at a point C downstream of the device 8, so that the voltage actually applied to the transmitter 9 can be regulated to a minimum value in accordance with a reference value which may be set by a Zener diode in the regulator 4. The sensing connection C may be made between devices 7 and 8, so that the regulated voltage at the transmitter 9 will have a current-dependent component. An over-voltage protection device, such as a Zener diode, may be connected across the terminals of the transmitter 9. The current limiter 5 may include thermionic valves or transistors, and the circuit may be supplied directly from a D.C. source.
