Abstract
912,520. Turbines. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. May 12, 1961 [May 16, 1960], No. 17413/61. Class 110 (3). In an axial flow steam turbine with a single or double casing split along an axial horizontal plane comprising inlet nozzles divided into groups, each group being within a separate nozzle casing one or more of which are partially or wholly below the horizontal dividing plane and detachably fastened to the lower half of the casing has the lower nozzle groups detachably connected to a valve casing disposed at the outer side of the upper part of the housing by inlet pipes which extend substantially vertically inside the housing and are supported by the housing at one or more bearing-points so that they can expand freely in a longitudinal direction. The casings 4 and 5 of an axial flow steam turbine are split along an axial horizontal plane 44. Nozzle groups 22 in nozzle casings 33 are connected to the valve casing 6 by inlet pipes 34 split along the horizontal plane. The two parts of each pipe are sealed at their joint by a piston-ring seal 7, so they may each expand longitudinally. The upper parts of the tubes 341 are fastened to the upper part of the casing 51 and are made integral with the nozzle casings 33 above the dividing plane except for the central nozzle casing which is connected directly to the valve easing by an integral inlet pipe. In the space 45 between the casings the inlet pipes are combined to form connecting-pieces 9. Where all the inlet pipes join the valve casing they are sealed by piston-ring seals 7 so that they may expand longitudinally. The lower nozzle casings are fastened to the lower casing 52 by connecting-members 55 and the inlet pipes supported by groove-shaped bearings 8 that allow longitudinal movement. In a modification the inlet pipes are integral with the nozzle casings and pass through both inner and outer casings into the valve casing.
