Cyclically varying rotary motion of a shaft 2 is obtained from a uniformly rotating shaft 1 by means of a quadrant 5 with a pin 4 engaging in a crank arm 3 on the shaft 1 and a follower 8 cooperating with a fixed internal cam surface 7a. Teeth on the quadrant engage a pinion 6 on the driven shaft 2.
