Abstract
911,075. Lubricating. METAMEC Ltd. May 2, 1960 [May 1, 1959], No. 14946/59. Class 12 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A synchronous electric motor for a clock comprises a rotor carried by a bored bush or similar carrier on a fixed spindle mounted at one end on a plate, in which the spindle is hollow and means are provided for admitting oil to the interior of the spindle through its mounted end and from the other side of the plate. Hollow spindle 12 is mounted on plate 10 by bush 11. Rotor R is carried by bored bush 13 over which fits an extension 14, leaving a cavity C for oil introduced into the lower end of spindle 12, which terminates short of the extension. Pinion P transmits the drive. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the extension is formed as a solid metal part having a central bore through which passes the spindle plugged at its upper end and bearing on the extension or on the lower end on a pinion mounted on the extension. The spindle is then provided with a lateral hole to allow oil to pass into the cavity in the bush. In a third embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the extension is formed as a worm for transmitting the drive. A ball may replace the plug at the top end of the spindle in the latter embodiments .
