[Also in Group XXXV] A portable electric tool such as a drill, has a motor housing 10 moulded from an electricallyinsulating material, e.g. synthetic resin, which is strengthened by a cast, preferably die cast, or fabricated frame, comprising a ring 20, at least three braces 21, and a bearing support 24. The armature stub axle 15 is held in a rotating insulating bush 16, to which is secured a pinion 18 which transmits the drive from the motor to the tool spindle 1.7. A handle 30 of mouldable insulating material is secured to support 24 which also has a bush 27 covered with insulating material for receiving a bearing bush 28, and gear-box 13 is screwed to lugs 32 on ring 20.
