Abstract
909,733. Arc-rupturing in switches. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 9, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959], No. 38524/60. Class 38 (5). An arc-quenching chamber comprises an ignition section formed by heat-resistant plates 2 inserted in slots in an insulating carrier 4 and secured in position by edges 5 on the circuitbreaker and a displaceable pressure member 6. The quenching section of the chamber is formed by plates 1 spaced by rollers 3 and secured to the carrier 4 by angle members 11, this arrangement allowing the quenching section to be fitted or removed in the operational position of the plates 2 which are spaced from plates 1 by gaps 12 to facilitate such action. The chamber is provided with a fixed contact and arcing horn 14, a movable contact 13 and horn 15, and an auxiliary blow-out device having outer plates 8, an inner core 9 and an arcing horn 10. The ignition and quenching sections are of different material, such as zirconium-oxide for the plates 2 and cement asbestos, hard paper or fibre for the plates 1.
