Abstract

909,104. Endless conveyers. MITCHELL, F. G. April 16, 1959 [Jan. 16, 1958], No. 1590/58. Class 78 (1). In an endless belt or articulated - plate conveyer, the working run of the belt or the like 10a is carried on spaced idler assemblies 14 carried by a pair of stationary longitudinally extending cables 21. Each idler assembly comprises a medial roller 15 and two marginal rollers 16, 17, the axles 18, 19, 20 of which are rigidly secured together and include depending portions 34 having channelled lower ends 35 which rest on the cable runs 21. The cable runs 21 are formed by one or more lengths of cable anchored at its ends to eye-bolts 26 secured to a support 27 and led around pulleys 28 at a position along the conveyer spaced from the anchorages. Intermediate the anchorages and the pulleys the cables rest in grooves 33 on intermediate support frames 23 which support in a vertically adjustable manner idler rollers 22 for supporting the return run of the belt. The pulleys 28 are carried by a transverse beam 29 mounted by rods 30 for longitudinal sliding movement. Springs 31 are arranged between adjustable nuts 32 mounted on threaded portions of the rods 30, and a support 27 for tensioning the cable. Specification 854,497 is referred to.
