Abstract

831,567. Endless-belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. April 25, 1958 [June 26, 1957], No. 20104/57. Class 78 (1). A troughing roller assembly for a selftroughing steel band conveyer comprises transversely aligned spaced supporting rollers 11, 18, 18, 11 rotatably mounted on individual rigid spindles which are themselves mounted in such a manner as to permit the supporting surfaces of the rollers to follow the natural transverse curvature of the band as it troughs under load and resilient means 29 for controlling the troughing in accordance with the transverse stiffness of the band and the load carried. Each roller 11 is cylindrical and is mounted by antifriction bearings 12 on a spindle 13 which is secured by a set-pin 14 in the upper end of an arm 15. This arm is pivoted at 16 to the base 10 and is connected by a pin 22 to the adjacent end of the spindle 21 of the roller 18. The other end of this spindle carries a pin 23 which is movable in inclined guides 24 in a fixed bracket 25 and carries a pair of rollers 26. These rollers are engaged by the flat closed head of a sleeve 27 which fits telescopically over a sleeve 28 secured to the base 10. A compression spring 29 is placed between the sleeves.
