909,079. Impact pulverizers. HERBERT Ltd., ALFRED. Aug. 16, 1961, No. 29509/61. Class 59. In a pulverizing machine of the kind having a generally cylindrical chamber divided by a rotor 13 into axially-spaced inlet and outlet portions, the outlet portion being provided with rows of interacting axially-overlapping pulverizing pegs 24, 25, 26 and 27, and the rotor shaft 14 being provided with radial fingers 28 to prevent too large particles from being drawn through an outlet 16 by a current of air induced by a fan 17 through an inlet 15, at least some of the arcuate segments 31 of the rotor 13 are each provided with an excrescence 30 radially inwardly of its peg 25, the excrescences serving to break up and divert the stream of too-large particles flung out centrifugally by the fingers 28, so that the stream will not be concentrated on particular pegs 25. Each excrescence is preferably in the form of a rectangular table which is integral with the associated segment.
