Abstract

908,146. Finishing fabrics. FLEISSNER G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1959 [Aug. 4, 1958], No. 26648/59. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group XIII] A perforated drum drier comprises at least one perforated drum adapted to receive material over at least a portion of its periphery, means adapted to produce a suction draught through the drum over the said portion of the periphery to cause the material to adhere to the drum and further means adapted to at least annul said suction draught at at least one part intermediate the ends of the said portion of the drum in order to allow the material to relax its adherence to the drum at the said one part so as to permit shrinkage of the material, the drier permitting suction through the drum on both sides of the said one part of the drum. In the arrangement shown, material is led over three drums 1, 1a 1b each perforated and each having covering means 5 over that portion of its periphery not covered by the material. In drum 1, deflector blades 3 rotate in the direction indicated to lift the material slightly off the surface due to the counter pressure produced by the deflector blades. In drum 1a are shown U-shaped covering-plates 4 which are preferably fixed and in drum 1b are shown blowing pipes 9. Each drum may be driven and is provided with means for creating a suction inside the drum.
